The Florida Economic Development Conference starts in just two days! We are here in Tampa preparing for a successful celebration of 50 years of the FEDC and can't wait for you all to join us. If you are not attending, follow along on Facebook and Twitter to view the conference highlights.

Reminders for Conference Attendees
Airport Shuttle and Baggage Claim
  • Once you land at Tampa International Airport take the tram across to the main airport concourse building.
  • Continue down to the baggage claim area to locate your checked luggage.
  • After picking up your luggage locate the touch screen display on the same floor.
  • Press lodging and you will find Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay listed.
  • Press Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay.
  • Press phone symbol.
  • Pick up phone, press “0” for transportation.
  • Our hotel operator will answer and ask for your location which will be posted in the airport as blue 1, blue 2, red 1 or red 2.
  • Our operator will advise you of the pick up location for the shuttle service.
Parking at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay
Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay offers several parking options for our guests that opt to explore the city’s attractions by car. 
  • Complimentary self-parking
  • Valet parking, $12 for overnight stays or $8 daily
  • Open surface lot parking for  oversized vehicles

Port of Tampa Bay Tour
The Port of Tampa Bay Tour is on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 4:00 pm. Please be in the hotel lobby by 3:15pm sharp for the carpool transportation.

We will park at Cruise Terminal 3 (815 Channelside Drive, Tampa, FL 33602).  You may park along the passenger drop-off area under the awning next to the building (disregard the “no parking” signs). A representative will be waiting to meet our group and escort us to the dock adjacent to the parking location. The 2014 Florida Economic Development Conference is the premier professional development event attended by economic, workforce and community developers from Florida’s 67 counties,  400 cities, 24 workforce regions, 12 universities and 28 community colleges.

May 2014 National Employment and Unemployment
  • The national unemployment rate was 6.3 percent in May 2014, unchanged from the April rate and down 1.2 percentage points from 7.5 percent a year ago.
  • Total nonagricultural employment was 138,463,000 in May 2014, an increase of 217,000 jobs (+0.2 percent) over the month and an increase of 2,379,000 jobs (+1.7 percent) over the year. Read More

Xavier University’s Center for the Study of the American Dream and The Burghard Group announced that the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach FL Metropolitan Statistical Area has been ranked as one of seven American Dream Cities where residents believe that they are working for and achieving a better life for their families and future generations. Read More
