Bryan Pederson

Bryan is a creative and results-driven leader with a passion for serving communities through meaningful relationships, enthusiasm, and integrity. He is currently the Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Largo, Florida where he works closely alongside businesses to foster economic growth and create strong relationships with local, state, and regional partners as well as leads the city’s annexation program.

Bryan just completed the IEDC Basic Course this week and plans to begin registering for the three core courses as his schedule permits. He is interested in taking the Entrepreneurial and Small Business Development Strategies course and either the ED Finance course or ED Strategic Plan Course as his two electives.  We wish Bryan all the best as he works towards achieving his CEcD certification!

Bryan grew up in Colorado and is a recent transplant to the west coast of Florida where he loves to spend time on the beach. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Management Studies from Saint Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and his personal interests include music, hiking, camping, traveling, fitness and spending time with his cat, Royce.

The Dan Webster Young Innovator Scholarship is supported by the Florida High Tech Corridor Council.

The Dan Webster Young Innovator Scholarship is given annually by The Florida High Tech Corridor in recognition of the achievements of an outstanding young innovator in economic development in Florida. Recipients of this award will receive a scholarship of up to $5,000 to be applied towards IEDC coursework and fees associated with achieving the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation.

Meet the Duke Energy Mickie Birdsall Scholars

Birdsall scholars (clockwise) - Landon Harrar, Kole Kolasa, Harry Jorgensen, Erin Jones. 
Landon Harrar is the Business Development and Investor Relations Coordinator for the  Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce.

Kole Kolasa is an Economic Development Specialist for Sumter County.

Harry Jorgenson is the Associate Director of Business Development for the Volusia EDC.

Erin Jones is the Director of Healthcare Development for  Ocala CEP.


The M. D. “Mickie” Birdsall Scholarship is given by  Duke Energy.

It supports economic developers or stakeholders seeking a fundamental understanding of the critical components of a comprehensive economic development strategy.

Presented annually by the University of South Florida’s Corporate Training and Professional Education, a Division of Innovative Education, the IEDC Basic Course is held in November of each year at USF in Tampa, FL.
