Registration for SPLC's inaugural Annual Meeting is now open!  We hope that you will join us for this intense, informative, results-oriented two-day meeting. We have been working hard to put together a compelling program and are very encouraged by the positive feedback we received on the Member Update call last week.  Now is your opportunity to get involved in the program via the Call for Presenters & Facilitators for the Challenges & Solutions Workshops.

As a reward for those of you who have been preparing to attend, you can save $200 by registering before next Thursday.  And for prospective members, now is an opportune time to join because we're giving new members a 10% discount on membership when they join and register for the Annual Meeting at the same time. We look forward to seeing you in person at the Washington DC Convention Center on May 20-21st!

Comment Period Ending March 19th:
Principles for Leadership

Member comment periodThe comment period for SPLC's Draft Principles for Leadership in Sustainable Purchasing is coming to a close. SPLC members are welcome to review the Principles and submit feedback through March 19, 2014.

The Principles define a ‘moral compass’ for the Council's work and guide collaboration among participants in future initiatives. The Principles offer an aspirational, long-term, leadership vision for organizations to pursue through continuous improvement. They encourage an approach to purchasing that adds direct value for individual organizations and indirectly supports the sustainability of communities and the natural systems on which they depend.

Please direct any questions to Christina Macken, Director of Programs.

Guidance on Purchased Electricity, Heat, Steam and Cooling Out for Public Comment

GHG ProtocolIn response to increasing interest by organizations in using contractual instruments, such as power purchase agreements, renewable energy certificates, Guarantees of Origin, and utility green power programs, to support claims about the low-carbon attributes of their purchased energy, GHG Protocol has for three years led international consultations on how organizations should calculate emissions from purchased and consumed electricity, heat, steam and cooling (scope 2).  The resulting Scope 2 Guidance document will available for a 5 week public comment beginning Thursday, March 13th and ending Monday, April 21st, 2014. Sign up for webinars and workshops being offered as part of the public comment period.

Now Hiring: Membership Sales Department

We have a good problem!  The volume of incoming interest is so great that we can't find time to do outreach to the hundreds of warm and hot leads we've collected over the last six months at conferences and trade shows.  To help us get through the backlog, we are looking to hire a skilled B2B salesperson who understands sustainability and the world of institutional procurement.  Working on a commission basis, this person will follow-up with people that have expressed interest, schedule and make presentations, close sales and process membership applications.
