Development of our Guidance for Leadership in Sustainable Purchasing v1.0, scheduled for release in December, 2014, is already underway, so please get involved!

A Technical Advisory Committee has been appointed to oversee program development, and all Members are invited to apply for the Purchasing Category Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) that will advise the Council on priority categories (see instructions below).

Many thanks to the Blackstone Ranch Institute and the Garfield Foundation for their philanthropic support. In part, this funding has helped us engage public interest organizations. We remain committed to ensuring that our work is informed by these voices.

We look forward to working with you in the busy months ahead!

Foundations Contribute $80,000 to SPLC

We are very pleased to announce that SPLC's work is earning the support of leading philanthropic foundations.  Blackstone Ranch Institute has now contributed $30,000 to SPLC, with $15,000 supporting the full engagement of a diverse range of stakeholders at the Annual Meeting.  An additional $15,000 was offered to SPLC as a match, which has now been met thanks to a generous $50,000 grant from the Garfield Foundation.

We are particularly honored to have our work recognized by these funders, since both are highly selective in their support of strategic collaborations which pioneer new models for systems thinking and large-scale impact. The funding will support the development of the Council's Guidance for Leadership in Sustainable Purchasing v1.0, which is scheduled for release in December, and we are continuing to reach out to additional funders to support this work.

SPLC Café Call: Supplier Engagement

SPLC Cafe call logoJoin fellow SPLC members for a discussion about incorporating sustainability into their supplier engagement.  You can share your experiences or just come to listen and learn from others' experiences.

Discussion prompts:
  • How is your organization engaging suppliers around sustainability?  Are you using trainings, scorecards, audits, or other strategies?
  • What methods have worked best?
  • What advice would you give those just getting started engaging their suppliers?
  • Suppliers, what are you seeing that works well, or that you'd like to see more of?
A few members will share their experience during the first 15 minutes of the hour to kick-off the discussion.  Then it will be your turn to ask and share with each other.
