2016 has been a productive year for the Council. We've added over 47 new members, spoken at over 30 conferences, attended even more meetings and events, released the second version of our Guidance for Leadership in Sustainable Purchasing, started five new working groups, taken our Member Services up a notch with the hire of Lisa Shusko, and had two SPLC staffers become parents. Not to mention we hosted a 350-person Summit in DC in May. We've been busy! To top it off, our newsletter readership doubled this year. Thank you for your interest in our work.

In the immediate future, we are now accepting presentation proposals for our 2017 Summit, to be held May 8-10, 2017 in Denver, CO. Proposals are due January 15th. If you register for the Summit before the new year, you will receive a $200 SUPER Early Bird discount. Read more below.

New Working Group on Supplier Ratings

support for this group provided by MicrosoftThe Supplier Ratings Working Group (SRWG) is charged with helping SPLC members identify the best practices and tools for evaluating their suppliers’ enterprise-level sustainability performance in a way that is robust, credible, and actionable within a procurement context. In doing so, SRWG participants seek to promote broad utilization of best-in-class rating tools. Convergence around these best-in-class tools will have benefits for suppliers and buyers because suppliers will have fewer places they need to report data, and buyers will find many of their suppliers already reporting to these tools. The group will also be identifying resources to support suppliers in addressing gaps identified by these evaluation tools.

The Supplier Ratings Working Group builds upon and extends the work of the Committee on Supplier Ratings (COSR), a project initiated by Microsoft and IEc, managed and facilitated by IEc and Brown-Flynn, and co-convened by GISR, EICC, and SPLC.
