Welcome!

Welcome to the monthly e-newsletter of Mahesh Raj Mohan!

If we haven't spoken recently, my biggest news is that my wife Sara and I welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world last August.

My second-biggest news is that I formally branded my writing/editing consultancy as Enlighten Writing.  In keeping with the theme, this e-newsletter will offer enlightening tips, specials, and information designed to make your marketing efforts easier.

This month, I'm highlighting a pair of promotions that I think you'll like, as well as a grammar tip and a mystery word.

I hope all is well with you.  If we haven't been in touch, I look forward to catching up soon.

Take care,

Mahesh

Grammar Tip

Affect and Effect

When I put on my editing hat, I'm always on the lookout for the "Ect Twins."

"Affect" usually means to "have an influence on" or it refers to emotions.

Ex:  "She was affected by the movie's plot."

"Effect" usually means "to have a result."

Ex:  "Her notes had no effect on the movie's plot."

Refer a Friend and Win!

Refer a friend and win a gift card!  If you refer a friend to me, and that individual hires me, I will send you an Apple Store gift card! Your friend will automatically receive 20% off the writing/editing service s/he needs.

Tell your contacts to mention my newsletter special when they call or e-mail me!

P.S.  This offer does not imply any endorsement by Apple for Enlighten Writing, LLC.

Mystery Word

Irregardless

No one really knows the origin of this word.

When people use it, they probably mean to say, "regardless," but they add an "ir" for some reason.

I agree with Merriam Webster's take on the word: "Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead."

Hello/Welcome Back!

I've missed you!  If you're a past client, then I know we had a great time working on your project.

Let's work together again!
