Last week, I launched my 5-part sermon series on life’s seasons as inspired by the Apostle Paul’s beautiful words:
Many of you have asked me for more information on Parker Palmer’s beautiful work. The full piece from which I quoted is available, for free, online, here. I left a lot out, so please do take a closer read! I know that it will inspire you.
This week, our text from the Gospel of Luke is of Jesus’ Ascension. This means many things, including the closing of the Eastertide liturgical season. It also means that we are headed into the longest liturgical season of the church year: Pentecost. Ascension draws us into winter, while Pentecost will take us into spring! When you come to worship, I encourage you to bring your journal, take notes, dig into the season you find yourself in and perhaps the seasons the people around you are in, as well.
Elders will be leading worship and I will preach remotely as I take some time for rest and rejuvenation.
Can’t wait to worship with you!
Pax Christi,
Pastor Kaji
Scripture: Luke 24:46-53 (Year A, p. 323):
46 Then Jesus said to them, “So it is written, the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 Now look! I am sending you the promise of my Abba. You all stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” 50 Then Jesus led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting his hands, he blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, Jesus retreated from them and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they bowed down and worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy; 53 and they were in the temple every day blessing God.

PACK 2023 [Park Avenue Church Kitchen 2023]
Funding PACC’s Kitchen!!
Dear Congregation,
It is with great enthusiasm that Park Avenue Christian Church announces the completion of the First Phase of construction. The Banquet Hall, Social Hall, Pantry, Conference Rooms, Bathrooms and Offices are complete. It has been a long process to get to this point!
However, we are not yet done! What is not complete is a kitchen. This is necessary to the functioning of the Banquet Hall and other associated planned revenue streams. A fully functioning kitchen will make that possible. Its completion is crucial to the future viability of the church.
We are reaching out to all congregation members to consider making what contribution[s] they can. Our needs are great. Current cost estimate is $291,000! It is not within the 2023 budget to cover this. Please help!
In the coming weeks, a campaign begins which will consist of an email to each congregation member followed by a phone call from volunteers for this campaign. Please use this as an opportunity to communicate your personal experience at The Park, what you would like to see improve, how The Park fits in with your future plans, and to express what your donation means to you (and to The Park). Your donation is tax deductible. Park Avenue Christian Church is a 501(c)(3) organization.
