       November 2014

Hello and welcome to the November edition of the Choralis newsletter.

With Christmas just around the corner it can be difficult to keep ourselves and our staff motivated. This is the time for festive celebrations, shopping for presents and enjoying a well-deserved break so inevitably, productivity levels suffer.

Exactly how much time is wasted in the workplace however and what is causing this? We recently posted an infographic on our website which reveals exactly this and we were surprised to learn that an unbelievable 89% of staff admit to wasting time at work.

Of those surveyed, 31% said they waste up to 30 minutes per day, another 31% waste up to one hour, 16% are wasting two hours a day and worryingly, 6% waste up to three hours, 2% up to four hours and another 2% waste a shocking five hours of their work day.

It's not only interesting to learn how much time people are wasting and on what, but also when staff are the most and least likely to be working hard. Perhaps unsurprisingly, 18% of staff say they are at their least productive on a Monday morning and 44% admit to wasting time on a Friday. The survey found that workers are at their most productive on a Tuesday morning.

The breakdown revealed that 48% of workers surveyed waste time using the Internet at work, 33% lose productivity by socialising with colleagues, 19% take personal phone calls and 15% treat themselves to an extended lunch break.
