"Transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 Coding Workshops for Home Health and Hospice"

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Homecare & Hospice Nurses, Therapists, Clinical Supervisors, Adminstrators, Financial Managers, Quality Improvement, QA Staff and Billing Staff

Despite the delay of ICD-10 implementation to October 1, 2015, health care industry in general continues with their training and other preparatory activities related to Diagnosis Coding. The reformatted program agenda for May 13-15, 2014 coding workshops will focus on BOTH accurate ICD-9 & ICD-10 crosswalks coding! This class will increase your hands-on knowledge on both important code sets that are most likely to impact home health and hospice coding and serves as preparatory class for taking the ICD-9 or ICD-10 HCS-D certification exam. 
 
PLUS: attendees of this year's workshop will receive a $50.00 discount voucher during the event, which is good towards next year's coding class!

May 13, 2014: (Hospice: 1 day)
Hospice Coding is devoted to didactic and hands-on coding experience with those conditions and guidelines more likely to be used within Hospice settings related to the terminal status/prognosis of the patient.  
 
May 14 and May 15, 2014: (Home Health: 2 days)
Designed to provide instruction in ICD-10-CM for individuals practicing in the post acute home care settings of home health and hospice. The program focuses on the application of the guidelines and correct selection and sequencing of ICD-10-CM codes to selected diagnostic statements and situations related to  body systems, factors influencing health status, and injuries, poisoning and other consequences of external causes. Attendees will be expected to apply coding principles and guidelines to selected case examples and scenarios

HCS-D Certification (Optional)
 
Test your ICD-10-CM knowledge and take the optional exam on Friday, May 16, 2014. Separate advance registration must be made directly to the Board of Medical Specialty Coding & Compliance (BMSC). Exam fee: $299 payable direclty to BMSC. For more information about HCS-D ICD-10 certification and study resources, call BMSC toll-free at 1-855-CALL-DH1. A complimentary exam study session will be given on May 15, 2014 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm for the event's registered exam takers only.

Judy Adams, RN, BSN, HCS-O; HCS-D, AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM Trainer

Judy is the President and CEO of Adams Home Care Consulting, Inc. and provides clinical and operational consultation and education services to home care, home health and hospice organizations for over 30 years. She is a member of the Board of Medical Specialty Coding & Compliance (BMSC) since 2010 and one of the lead technical advisors in the creation of the HCS-D exam and certification.
