Denmark – European Champion in Organic Rainbow Trout
Denmark is the biggest producer of organic rainbow trout with a total production of 1,080 metric ton (2014). At least a doubling of the production is expected within few years.



 
Varietal choice improves P use efficiency in
IMPROVE-P trials

Agricultural production is dependent on non-renewable sources of P and farmers need to use P inputs as efficiently as possible. Experiments in Denmark and the UK showed that the efficiency of P use in organic potatoes can be improved if late-season varieties with vigorous top and root growth are used.

 
COBRA: Final results about organic breeding presented
The COBRA (Coordinating Organic plant Breeding Activities for Diversity) project has been linking up efforts in organic breeding activities in both cereals and grain legumes. The final results of the CORE Organic II project were presented in the end of 2015 in Denmark.

 

Organic conversion is still a challenge to East African farmers
Lack of organic feeds and livestock diseases are the main obstacles to conversion to organic livestock production in East Africa, two ProGroV studies show.



 

Three more students from ProGrOV have graduated
The ProGrOV project partners are very proud of the three graduates and are looking forward to the rest of the students graduating this year.




 
ISOFAR supports scientific progress by compiling abstracts and papers from contributions to all ISOFAR scientific conferences and events into scientific proceedings. The proceedings are now available with open access for all on www.ISOFAR.org

10th European Organic Congress 4-6 April, the Netherlands
Almost a decade after the first Congress, IFOAM EU is celebrating its 10th European Organic Congress in the Netherlands this April 2016. The theme of this year’s Congress is transforming food and farming through organics.


 
Science Day 2016 at BIOFACH
On February 12, 2016, the fourth Science Day will take place at BIOFACH, the World Organic Trade Fair, in Nuremberg, Germany. It is a joint event of TIPI, the Technology Innovation Platform of IFOAM and TP Organics, the European Technology Platform for Organic Food and Farming.
