It Takes a Village: Guided Pathways
Continues Conversations with Key Student Service Areas.
--Patty Guitron, Counselor and Guided Pathways Co-Coordinator.
In fall 2021, we met with Classified Professionals to discuss the Village structures and how we could begin to weave them into the Villages. We’ve continued those meetings into the winter quarter, and we also met with the Counseling Faculty to sort out how they will weave into the villages. We’ve shared several models from different community colleges across the state. We are looking at different aspects of other models so that we can configure our own Village teams that will be collaborative and create a sense of community for our students and for all the employees. We all agree we want to work together to provide support to our students and each other by sharing best practices, maximizing key events such as opening days, transfer days, registration weeks, and graduation application weeks. We recognize the potential of the Villages to increase collaboration and eliminate the duplication of services and affording us the opportunity to be more accessible and engaged with the campus community. Our goal is to weave the Counseling Faculty and Classified Professionals into the Villages by spring of 2022.

"We are dedicated to providing clear and direct information to students to “stop the bounce.”
Welcome to Guided Pathways Villages for Classified Professionals session #3.
Continue to learn and explore Guided Pathways as Classified Professionals. Don't miss out! There will be discussion of how other community colleges have incorporated their classified employees across campus into Guided Pathways.
"Ensuring Learning Through Student Success Factors."
The last of four workshops will explore how the college can build on Guided Pathways Pillar Four ("Ensure Learning") to enhance the student experience, within and outside the classroom.
Over 100 students applied to work with the Villages! Can you believe that?! The Villages team reviewed, interviewed, and offered employment to eleven amazingly qualified De Anza students. All Villages are represented and employees will assist the Villages with event coordination, marketing, social media campaigns, Canvas page engagement and oversight, plus so much more!
This group is now our second addition of students employees into the Guided Pathways collective. Student perspectives are vital to the growth of all pathways work. We are truly excited to start a new chapter with our student voices at the forefront.
