Registration is open for the second "Pacific Anomalies Workshop" to be held at the University of Washington on January 20-21. This workshop will focus on atmospheric, oceanic, and ecosystem dynamics associated with the warm water anomaly known as the 'blob'. Visit the Registration page

NANOOS at Canadian (MEOPAR) Data Management Forum
NANOOS DMAC Lead Emilio Mayorga gave an invited presentation at the recent Marine Environmental Observation Prediction and Response Network (MEOPAR) Ocean Data Management Expert Forum in Montreal, Canada.

Together with a presentation by Derrick Snowden, IOOS Chief of the Operations and Communications Division, this was a great opportunity to share IOOS' national and regional experience with our Canadian partners as they chart their national ocean observing network plans. It also helped strengthen relationships between NANOOS and Canadian partners.
This international forum brought together organizations that collect and manage ocean observation data with the aim of sharing best practices, identifying research gaps in Canada, and exploring a way forward for data management with a coordinated Canadian ocean observing system.

Students, Educators and Volunteers Join Buoy Recovery Cruise
|
|
|
Twenty students, educators and other volunteers joined a 5-day mooring recovery cruise for the La Push (Chaba and NEMO) buoys in November, making this cruise a highly-successful educational opportunity. Volunteers were immersed in the hands-on oceanography carried out on these cruises including CTDs, plankton sampling, mooring deployments, glider deployments, and seawater sample analysis.
