Somebody has been to Greece!
BITS & BOBS
Yassos everybody! I am trying not to feel blue after a wonderful time on Kefalonia so have been busy recreating recipes and tweaking things to give you a taste of Greek Island sunshine at the bistro. I might have developed a bit of a mastic fantastic habit as I came back with boxes of the real thing, bottles of the liqueur and a tub of the sticky mastic paste. While on holiday I did make a fragrant whole orange and mastic cake (stand by for that coming soon)
which happens to be fat free and gluten free too that disappeared as fast as the local wine was going down! Talking of wine…I brought back some indigenous “Robola” for the Fox to opine on. Its hard to get back into the groove but as I make these dishes the smells, the tastes, the faces of friends and happy memories come back like warm blankets around my shoulders.
SPECIALS THIS WEEK ….at the London Street Bistro
Yes a little Greek inspired of course and capturing the tastes of wonderful end of summer zucchini and watermelons too. The yellow pea hummus became an addiction on holiday so hope you will like it too! Finally I could use my new organic rose essence in a sorbet that first wowed me many years ago made by friend and accomplished cook Helene Florescu.
