BITS & BOBS   
Its been another busy week! And another hot and sunny week! It was wonderful indeed  to host Oliver & Raluca for the sell out “Fine Spanish Wines” evening on Friday - beautiful wines and great company and a chance to cook up earthy Spanish food.  Richard’s wine school has also been packed and it was absolutely brilliant to have Themis around with his award winning olive oil that we could dunk hot bread into. This week for the Bordeaux session I decided to make a little snack afterwards of Freshly baked bread, tapenade & aioli followed by a soupe au potiron aux oranges and then a goats cheese, rucola and caramelized red onion quiche with a quince tarte tatin to finish off with. Its hard work this wine tasting and appetites are built fast!
Those of you that know me know that I have a thing about goats… I’ve dreamt about owning a goat farm since I was about four and I’ve devoured every type of goat product I can get my hands on from butter to yoghurt to milk to hard cheeses to soft cheeses and so on and so on…. So I was super excited to go visit a herd just outside Bucharest at the weekend and try the freshly made “cas” as well as a more mature sheep and goat’s cheese telemea that really was excellent.  It was particularly good with olive oil drizzled over and some fresh thyme.

Party season seems to have started already and we have hosted some really special private dinners and cooking sessions in the last week – as ever its your ideas and milestones to mark be they birthdays, baptisms or just great get togethers that inspire us!

THE BISTRO – Putul Lui Zamfir 15
The Indian summer continues…and our pepper plants are so confused they started flowering on the terasa :-s  Indian is the “mot du jour” indeed as I decided it was time we put Britain’s most popular meal on the Bistro menu (full version): Chicken Tikka Masala. I made a lighter sauce with yoghurt and I have to say I really like it and with the new unpasteurized “Zaganu” beer it’s a treat indeed! After a thumbs up for our Mansoor dahl at the last Asian Brunch I decided that this would keep all our veggie and vegan clients very happy indeed – it’s one of my personal favourite dishes of all time.  The new dishes are on this week’s weekly menu so you can get to try them out for the “It’s the Business” set lunch.  

Our new Wine of the Month is the fabulous Epicentrum Cab Sav Merlot from those innovative people at Crama Girboiu.  Its an interesting blend of two years – the oaked Merlot from 2009 and the young 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon.  Spend 250 Ron on dinner and receive a complimentary bottle (RRP 37 Ron).  Feel free to order take out too by calling Gelu or Alina on 0736933531




WHATS ON

  • 12th November THE ATELIER  – Sweet Wines: Richard’s fabulous wine course continues and I for one love the sweet wine section as there are so many different methods to making sweet wines around the world.  I think we will have a “dessert table” plus some blue cheese and some foie gras to try with them!  If you fancy a single lesson give us a buzz to see if there is a space!
