There will be a ‘Flowering of the Cross’ on Easter this year! Everyone is invited to bring flowers and greenery from their homes and yards, or even a favorite from a florist. As we gather to worship, the barren cross will be transformed as we attach our fresh, living flowers. The death of the cross is transformed into the new life of Easter. Covered in color and beauty, the cross becomes a visual emblem of Jesus' resurrection, and also of the continuing presence of Christ in this world.
Tomorrow, April 20th, come serve at St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Highland @ Mynders. Plan to stay from about 3:00 pm to about 5:30 pm. Call Susan Baldwin with questions 605-7704.
Easter Egg Hunt Our annual Easter egg hunt will take place immediately following the church service on Sunday. Jr. kindergarten and under will hunt eggs in the grassy area directly out the back doors of the sanctuary. Kindergarten-2nd grade will hunt eggs in the courtyard between the sanctuary and the fellowship hall. 3rd grade and up will hunt eggs in the grassy area on the north side of the sanctuary (not in the vegetable and flower garden though). Everyone will be sent out as a group with an adult to help guide them, so stick around in the sanctuary for further details. Following the hunt or sometime within the next week or so, empty eggs can be returned to the box in the narthex for use next year.
One Great Hour of Sharing
The children are collecting money for One Great Hour of Sharing. Many have fish banks to collect their money in, but if not, Carolyn King has more. The children can bring this to church and we will collect the banks and/or money on Sunday, April 28th during Sunday school. There are also envelopes located in the pews.
Book and Movie Group
The book group will meet April 25, at 7pm, to discuss Killers of the Flower Moon. Nancy Walker will lead the discussion.
The Formation Team will be offering sausage biscuits (and plain biscuits) for sale to raise funds for the annual St. Luke's Christmas Dinner. They will be offered Sunday, April 28th and will cost $3.00.
Will meet April 28th, at 2pm, here at the church.
Ghost River Kayaking/Canoe Trip
We will be meeting Saturday May 11th at 9AM at the take out spot of the Wolf River in Moscow TN. The Ghost River Outfitter will meet us at the parking lot and shuttle us in vans to the put in of the Wolf River. This is an 8.5 mile stretch that I would plan on lasting 6 hours. No experience is necessary. I highly recommend renting single kayaks but canoes and standup paddleboards are also available. The fee for renting is $40 per kayak, $50 per canoe, and $50 per SUP. Rentals include boat, paddle, vest and a shuttle. If you have your own boat the shuttle fee is $10. A reservation is made in advance and payment is due in cash on the day of the trip. Please contact Amanda Noe with any questions, 901-517-6460. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex.
