Downtown parking passes now available through HotSpot

Monthly downtown parking passes can now be purchased through the HotSpot parking app or website! The app will send a notification when the pass is expiring and offers the option to automatically renew passes. Annual downtown parking passes will be available for purchase starting mid-December. Please note: Resident Parking Passes, which provide for free parking in specific waterfront areas, are not yet available via HotSpot.

Textile collection bins available at select City facilities

Cornerstone to Recovery textile collection bins have been installed at Sadlon Arena, Barrie Public Library (Painswick branch), Allandale Recreation Centre, and other City facilities. 100% of net proceeds combat homelessness and addiction, and support mental health in the community. Acceptable donation items include clothing, hats, shoes/boots, and scarves. Learn more.

Get your Game On!

Game On! is the City’s gaming event for all ages, and this year we go virtual from September 1–18 in partnership with the Barrie Public Library’s Comic Con. Take part in the 2v2 Rocket League Tournament or watch it live on Twitch, learn about esports and game development, participate in a murder mystery escape room, and much more! Visit barrie.ca/GameOn for details.

Big Bay Point Road construction starts next week

The City’s Multi-Modal Active Transportation Master Plan identified Big Bay Point Road as a key transportation corridor and recommended several transportation improvements to accommodate growth in Barrie. The widening and reconstruction of Big Bay Point Road from east of Bayview Drive to Huronia Drive is expected to be a two-year construction project. See project details.
