In October I (Roger) attended a member care course. The course was held in Restenas, Sweden.
Studies show that missionary life is very stressful and that more missionaries suffer from burnout and post traumatic
stress than they did a generation ago. Today, with global politics becoming so volatile, missionaries are facing persecution, violence and kidnapping. Just this year a YWAM family was murdered. Many colleagues, friends and relatives had to receive counseling from this tragedy. Many missionaries need onsite counselors to help them walk through difficult times in their lives and ministries. The goal of member care is to help people fulfill the calling God has placed on their hearts, and not leave their ministry field prematurely.
This was a three week course that focused on the many challenges that missionaries face from the time they first arrive on the field through all the many challenges they face, until retirement.

Each day was a full day of learning! Now, I will be part of network of member care people in Central Europe. This means I may travel to different locations to help people in need or be available by Skype to talk with people in their region.

During the past two months we've had three teams visiting Prague. Two of the teams were from Germany, Freiburg and Hurlach. They were so on fire to see the Kingdom of God advance in Prague. They were reaching out to the poor and homeless, by providing meals, warm clothing, and praying for people. They also volunteered to lead worship, during Open Worship, Saturday afternoon on the main square in Prague. Both teams were really bold to share Jesus with people they met on the street. Several people came to know the Lord during Open Worship and they had many good conversations with people from all over the world!

We also hosted a ministry team called "Dunamis" in our home. They ran a week long seminar on Spiritual Warfare. It was very powerful and well received. Several people were set free through prayer!

Elizabeth is loving her time in the South Pacific. With her medical DTS team she has had opportunity to visit the islands of Vanuwatu. The team Elizabeth is with have been able to visit a number of remote medical clinics shadowing doctors and nurses and assisting in medical procedures. Elizabeth also had the opportunity to lead worship and share her testimony in some of the meetings.

For the past three months I (Roger) have had a growing pain in my right shoulder. An MRI showed that I had a tumor and bursitis in my right shoulder. I am scheduled to have an operation on January 3rd. Then at the start of school, while Robin was volunteering one day, a locker door fell on her head giving her a concussion and whiplash. She will need some continued physical therapy. Josiah, who is in 11th grade this year, began to have severe migraine headaches. He is doing better this week but he'll need to do some testing to make sure all is OK. We are glad to have insurance for all this sudden crazy stuff. We sure appreciate your prayers and people helping us along through some of this. It sure doesn't stop us though!

We have some exciting developments coming to Prague. In February 2019, 2 or 3 new staff will join us to lead a Discipleship Training School (DTS). In the Fall of 2019 we will be hosting the first ever Discipleship Training School in Prague. This will be a five month-school with  a three-month lecture phase then a two-month outreach phase. It is so exciting to see young people find their calling and press in to know and serve Jesus with hearts aflame in Christ's love. Then in February 2020 we will host the all European YWAM leadership conference. We are expecting 350 to 400 leaders from all over Europe.

Please pray for these needs.

  • For Elizabeth as she finishes her Discipleship Training School and fro safe travel as she returns to Prague on December 24th.

  • For Roger with the tumor and bursitis in his right shoulder and the scheduled operation on January 3rd.

  • For Josiah that he would be healed of the migraine headaches.

  • For the Fall 2019 Discipleship Training School in Prague.

  • For the planning of the 2020 leader's conference in Prague.

  • Pray for us to be on fire for Jesus to see His Kingdom advance.

Please prayerfully consider giving towards the purchase of a newer car for us.  The one we are driving is 15 years old and has more than 230,000 Kilometers (143,000 Miles) on it. We are having to put more and more money into it. A good used car will cost about $15,000 dollars.
