"If you're walking down the right path and you're willing to keep walking,
eventually you'll make progress."
-Barack Obama

Note from the Editors: Last week St. Louis was hammered with a major snowstorm, shutting down a large part of the country for a good three days. The overwhelming snow and ice were a microcosm of what we've endured throughout the pandemic - bracing ourselves for the worst, hunkering down and weathering the storm. However, if the past two years have taught us anything it's how to productively live within the confines of our homes. So, like seasoned professionals, folks everywhere didn't miss a beat as they Zoomed into work and school.
A couple short days after the storm hit the temperature climbed into the mid 60s, erasing all but a few slushy piles of disfigured snowmen.

Walking through the neighborhood yesterday I was struck by a welcome sound I'd forgotten I'd missed - birds chirping. Encouraged by the warmth of the sun I removed my outer layer and soaked in the promise of spring. Emerging from a world devoid of color, sound and warmth we notice more, we appreciate more when it appears before us like an unexpected but welcome gift.

As this winter continues to melt into spring, keep walking. Keep going. Warmer days and sunshine are ahead!

Business Spotlight -
UPS Owner Kimberly Ringenbach
Q&A with the Owner of UPS: Kimberly Ringenbach

How long have you worked at this UPS store?

I purchased this store Oct 1st 2020 but have worked on and off with the company since 2004 in a couple of different states.

What services do you provide at the store that people might not be aware of?
We offer notary public service and typically have a notary in the store at all times. Document scanning and secure shredding. USPS shipping and postal services including postal stamps. We laminate and make self-inking rubber stamps. Most recently we added a wide format printer to the store and are able to print posters and banners. We also offer freight service (shipping large and oversized items like furniture.) Our pack and ship guarantee means that if we pack something and it is damaged, we pay your shipping, packaging costs and item cost/repair to you. I often will pay a customer back before UPS pays me back so you get a refund quicker, it's just good customer service. We also have PO Boxes that are a real street address to rent, so you can securely receive mail and packages (from all carriers) and have them signed for and safe. Renting a mailbox gets you discounts on several services in the store as well.

Your staff is so kind and wonderful. We are grateful to have you in the neighborhood. How do you create a culture of excellence for your employees?
A few of my staff are natives to the area and know so many people who come into the store, so it is hard for them to be anything but excellent. I have tried to instill a sense of southern charm (I used to manage a store in the south) and stress that if you're helpful and courteous it will only make your day easier and job more satisfying. I offer bonuses and incentives to the staff when goals are met and remind them that the way the treat the customers will directly impact that in which they receive. Overall, we just have really sweet people working in the store and I love them like family.

What is something you like about Warson Woods?
I love that Warson Woods has small-town charm while being a city at the same time.
From The Archives
Were you there? Golde's Department Store had its Grand Opening in Warson Woods 55 years ago in the area that is now the Dierberg's Shopping Center. It operated in Warson Woods until around 1989 (with a brief respite after a fire in 1974) when the company was sold to Kline Brothers and then closed not long thereafter.
