"Community is the foundation to success."
- Kristen Jones

The culture of any organization, city, or group is made up of its shared rituals, heroes, and values, and those are all on full display in Warson Woods as we look ahead to the coming months. Read ahead to see how.

In October, we celebrated the ritual of the annual Warson Woods Fall Fest and it was an extraordinary tour de force for the neighborhood, put on by amazing volunteers from our neighborhood. We also are looking ahead to the Trot Thru the Woods which is another favorite annual tradition in November!

We continue to solicit the names of current veterans or immediate family members of Warson Woods residents who are serving or have served in the military. See below for information to include these heroes in our feature next month. We are grateful for your service.

I was recently speaking with a new neighbor about how they liked the area and they said they couldn't believe how many people are out walking every evening and who are so friendly. We live our neighborhood values day in and day out as we greet one another, share generators during power outages, and support one another in our daily lives. I'm grateful to be surrounded by so many kind, engaged citizens.

Warson Woods Fall Fest Recap
The 2021 Warson Woods Fall Fest was a night to remember! The rides, the live music, the cadre of pool volunteers serving up food and drinks, and the hayride all made it an extraordinary year. Thank you to Lucy Pfyl (chair), GP Dorris, Kathy Mahany, Blues City Swing, Mayor Howe, and all of the police and facilities city staff who ensured it was a safe evening.
New Resident Packet Draft
Welcome to the Woods
Our new resident welcome packet is NOW AVAILABLE on the Warson Woods website! It contains helpful information like trash pick up, a business directory, Warson Woods traditions and lots more. Special thanks to resident Ryan Scott for creating the coloring page for kids! We would love your feedback on this draft at We plan to publish a revised draft each year and to keep making it better, more robust, and more accurate each year.
Upcoming: We are also working on a new resident "swag bag", filled with coupons and other goodies from local businesses. They are not yet ready, but we hope to have them ready after the first of the year. If you complete the scavenger hunt on pg. 4 of the packet and take the finished answers to City Hall, you can get one of the swag bags after the new year. Thanks to Mandy Kamykowski of Kamykowski & Taylor for volunteering to sponsor the bags!

If you have a business and would like to donate items for the swag bag, please drop them off to Kathy at City Hall during normal business hours. Thank you!

Warson Woods Business Spotlight -
Vangel's Restaurant
Many of us mourned the loss of J.Greene's Restaurant this summer which was a resident favorite hangout for many years. We were delighted to see the Post-Dispatch cover the upcoming opening of a new restaurant in the J. Greene's space. The new restaurant will be called Vangel's and is by the grandson of Charlie Gitto. You can read all about their plans for opening in the PD article.
From The Archives
Golde's Department Store opened in Warson Woods on June 7, 1967 after the Maplewood location was destroyed by fire in 1966. It was a Warson Woods staple until the building was demolished in July of 1994.
