Update from LIFE Mower County regarding Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Print and share this information with parents, guardians, staff, etc.

We wanted to share a quick note about what we are doing at LIFE Mower County in light of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Like you, we are following the news very closely and taking every precaution as recommended by the Minnesota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control. We have been taking every precaution to slow the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Following the recommendations from the State of Minnesota around social distancing, and with an abundance of caution and concern for our entire community, we will be canceling all in-person activities through Monday, August 31, 2020.

What this means:

  • Community Connections Trips - There will not be any in-town or
out-of-town trips in July or August.
  • Mower County Special Olympics - All Special Olympics practices and tournaments have been canceled until further notice.  This includes Bocce and Softball only.
  • Our Place Recreation Center - All regular in-person activities have been canceled until August 31, 2020.  We will re-evaluate the situation and notify everybody with any changes.
    • Read our July-August 2020 newsletter for information on our next parade and a parking lot dance party - Click here
  • Self Advocacy - People First Aktion Club and Self-Advocates Minnesota will continue virtually through the end of August.
  • Fall 2020 Vacation - As of today (7/1/2020), our Fall 2020 Vacation to Brindley's Harbor resort will still be held as scheduled. We will have to wait and see how the COVID-19 pandemic will affect this vacation. All registered participants will be notified immediately if anything changes.
  • Virtual Programs - Will continue through the end of August. Virtual program information can be found in your newsletter (July-August 2020 newsletter was mailed on June 30, 2020) or by visiting the virtual program page on our website.
These changes are precautionary and are not due to any known exposure to COVID-19 in our building. The health, safety, and well-being of our community remain our #1 priority.  We will reevaluate the situation on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, and advise everyone with any future changes.

Our lobby will be open beginning on Monday, July 6, 2020, but any access to offices, bathrooms and the rest of the building will be restricted.

We will send any updates via email to our entire community if any plans change.  You can also click the button below to learn more about any updates.
