TIPS FOR VOTERS: GETTING HELP VOTING
AND INDEPENDENT VOTING
  1. If you are under a guardianship you still have the right to vote unless your guardianship court order says that the court has taken away your right to vote.
  2. If you can’t get into your polling place, you can register and vote from your vehicle. Ask the head election judge to find two election judges to come outside to help you.
  3. If you cannot sign your name, you have the right to tell the election judge who you are and tell another person to sign your name for you on the roster.
  4. You have the right to ask for help voting. For example, you can ask an election judge, a friend, family, guardian, or a staff person who works with you, for help.
  5. Any person you choose can go with you into the voting booth except an agent of your employer or union, or a candidate.
  6. You can ask someone to mark your ballot for you. It is against the law for them to mark the ballot for you if you cannot communicate to them who you want to vote for.
  7. You have the right to take a sample ballot into the voting booth with you.
  8. It is against the law for anyone in the polling place to try to influence your vote. It is your vote, and your choice!

Create your legacy with an endowment – Your
endowment gift will grow to become a permanent legacy

Why make an endowment gift?  An endowment gift is a gift to an established fund that is invested.  When you make an endowment gift, you create a steady stream of annual income to support our good work.  Your gift will be maintained in perpetuity and make a lasting, meaningful difference.  There are several ways in which you can make an endowment gift either today or as part of your estate plan.

Ways to make endowment gifts:

Charitable Gift Annuity:  When you transfer your cash or appreciated property (stock, CD’s or real estate) to our endowment fund, we will agree to pay you fixed payments for life at a rate based on your age.  You will receive a tax savings charitable deduction and a portion of your payments may be tax free.

Charitable Remainder Trust:  When you transfer your cash or appreciated property to a charitable remainder trust, the trust will you income for your life or a number of years.  You will receive a tax savings charitable deduction for your gift of the remainder to our endowment.

Bequest:  A gift to our endowment made through your will or trust, may provide your estate with valuable tax savings.  Your endowment bequest can be a gift of a specific asset, percentage of your estate or the residue (what’s left after specific bequests are made to your family).  Your endowment gift will create a permanent legacy of lasting support for our work.

Your support makes our work possible:  Did you know that by making a gift to our endowment, you can create a permanent source of income that will ensure the continuation of our programs far into the future?  This type of meaningful gift can create a legacy for you while providing lasting support for our mission.
