Dear Colleagues,

Representatives of international volunteer cooperation organisations and volunteer-involving organisations from around the world gathered in Tokyo 4th–7th October 2015 for the annual meeting of the International Forum for Volunteering in Development (Forum).  The conference aligned with the world’s adoption of the new development agenda and its 17 global goals, and therefore concluded with a Call to Action committing Forum to support efforts to achieve the goals through action at local, national and global levels.

A diverse range of organisations, including civil society, government agencies, UN bodies, academia and the private sector, Forum members work in partnership at home and across borders for a more just and sustainable world.  We are committed collectively to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to addressing poverty and inequality, and to the recognition of the importance of volunteerism in achieving this universal agenda.

We invite you to join with the 40+ organisations who have signed the Call to Action – focused on a collective commitment to seven key areas, including supporting and contributing to the United Nations’ Plan of Action for the integration of volunteerism in the next decade and beyond.
