October's pro-lifer of the month

October pro-lifer of the month: Patti & Jim McCormick

Patti and Jim McCormick were anticipating the birth of their third child when the U.S. Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade.

A turning point for the culture of life, it also sparked the McCormick’s involvement in pro-life activities.

Patti volunteered with Birthright International, a telephone-based counseling organization for unplanned pregnancies.

They also tried to get their church involved.

“Well, one year, Jan. 22 was a Sunday,” Patti said in an interview last month. “There was no mention at Mass. Maybe a year later, Father asked us to represent the diocese at a pro-life conference.”

Then they started a pro-life group. And the group just kept growing.

Pro-Life News

ABORTION: There is no more denying the humanity of the preborn. The only thing abortion supporters can do now is claim that a human life only has value if they say so. PLW: Only when the preborn human being is fully protected from conception as a “person” will legal abortion end.

DISABILITY: The sickening truth about the world’s fight against genetic disease is to terminate the fetus, just like a surgeon might cut out a cancerous tumor. PLW: Modern medicine has completely failed when it kills the patient rather than works to find a cure.

FRANCE: Laurence Rossignol unveiled plans to criminalize those sites that aim to dissuade women from obtaining a “voluntary interruption of pregnancy,” a procedure that is 100 percent state-funded in France during the first 12 weeks of gestation. PLW: France’s draconian plans to criminalize pro-life websites prove there is no choice in the “pro-choice” movement.

RELIGION: As long as the method of family planning is a preventive measure, the pastor says there is no harm in using it. PLW: Contraception fuels sexual promiscuity which in turn spreads sexually communicable diseases like HIV.

FORCED ABORTION: An Australian man who admitted to raping his daughter and then coercing her into having an abortion was sentenced to 16 years in jail. PLW: When Planned Parenthood fails to report the rapists who use abortion to cover up their crimes, they are perpetuating the sexual abuse of young women.

ENDORSEMENTS: Endorsing Clinton is not a choice for pro-lifers as the former secretary of state is "the embodiment of the abortion rights movement." PLW: Pro-Life Wisconsin encourages you to vote your fully informed conscience in this presidential election as we do in every election.

RELIGIONA refresher course on what the Catholic Church actually teaches, and what faithful Catholics are required to believe and practice, is worth repeating. PLW: Sharing the essential moral truths about abortion with your family and friends prior to the fall election is spiritual work of mercy.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD: Emails are coming to light linking the California attorney general’s office with Planned Parenthood in an effort to stop pro-lifers seeking to produce videos of what happens behind the scenes at the abortion seller. PLW: California’s attempt to outlaw investigative journalism in the health care arena is overtly unconstitutional and harmful to patient care.
