There are many career opportunities in the petroleum industry. Over the next while we are featuring some of the career paths available. This issue is about:

Oil and Gas Technicians:

This work involves the installation, operation, servicing, monitoring and fixing of equipment used in the petroleum industry.

Technicians may take anywhere from a few related courses to technical college programs in order to become eligible for certification.

 Here are 3 careers to think about: 

  • Oil and Gas Transportation Services transport, load and unload the plant, rig equipment and supplies that are used in the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources.
  • Warehouse Technicians provide technical support to oil and gas exploration, production and transportation. They design, plan and manage the flow of equipment and supplies.
  • Marine technicians install, maintain, monitor and operate a variety of ship and rig equipment. This includes subsea equipment and running tools, choke and kill valves, and blow out preventer stacks. Common marine technician careers include: Radar systems technician; Ship repair technician and Sonar technician
