Know about health & safety

It could save your life!

We have been looking at Health and Safety issues in our ASWA newsletter for the past few weeks, leading up to The Workers' Day of Mourning (last Thursday, April 28).  We would like to summarize key points to remember; and provide you with a PDF printout for you to download, print and use.

Reasons you should care about health & safety at work:

  • Knowing your rights could save your life or that of a fellow worker.
  • Proper training is vital for your safety and could prevent you from getting injured.
  • Being aware of potential hazards at work can help you anticipate and prevent accidents.
Legal responsibility for identifying and fixing health and safety hazards belongs to ALL workplace parties (employers, contractors, owners, workers, supervisors, self-employed persons and suppliers).

The Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations (OHSA) require everyone in the workplace to work together to identify and control health and safety hazards.

We have a handy printout that outlines some of the things you must know, or find out about, to keep you safe in the workplace....  Download it here!
