So this year, the MPower Showcase joins forces with the first SBN Quarterly Breakfast Meeting of the new year. Green Your Gifts!

Lower your environmental impact while gifting this holiday season. For the gifts:

  1. Gift the gift of an experience! A tour, music lesson, art class, concert, or meal can make a fabulous gift that won't end up in the landfill.
  2. Consumable gifts have the same idea. A basket full of specialty food items is a tasty way to show you're thinking of someone.
  3. When buying physical gifts shop small and local when possible. Supporting Dane County businesses is especially important this time of year!

For the gift wrap:

  1. Reuse whenever possible. Keep a stash of gift bags and salvageable wrap from gifts you receive throughout the year.
  2. Pick up a thrift store scarf and wrap the gift furoshiki style.
  3. Use compostable materials like paper and cotton string.
  4. Decorate with pieces of nature like an evergreen sprig, a pine cone, a cinnamon stick, or a dried orange slice.
  5. Reuse paper grocery bags or newsprint - or check out Wrappily, a company who prints gift wrap designs on 100% recyclable newsprint.

Imagine Madison Comprehensive Plan

Last year, we facilitated three resident panels in collaboration with Ho-Chunk Gaming Madison. These panels provided an opportunity for Ho-Chunk residents of Madison to influence the city planning process in a community, participatory process called Imagine Madison. The City of Madison Comprehensive Plan inspired by your participation has now been adopted! View the plan here online or visit the Madison Public Library to view a hard copy.
