Good weather, everyone is keeping busy!

TREA was pleased to have a message at Western Fair this year (Sept 8-17) in conjunction with displays organized by Friends of Urban Agriculture (who are partnered with the Fair). Also in Sept, TREA had a display at Doors Open on Sept 16 held at Grosvenor Lodge where TREA has its office (see photo). A country fair was well received by those attending. Several activities ranged from a vintage market, tea garden, children’s area, and musical entertainment to historic building tours. Over 700 attended.

TREA started Oct off helping CAN-Bike London volunteers on Oct 1 with bike helmet fits at the amazing Big Bike Giveaway (year 4) held at Boyle Community Centre this year – over 300 bikes were given out to community members. Donations are welcome again as they start up 2018 organizing.

TREA welcomes a new staff person this fall to support marketing activities – Christine Neumann. We are also pleased to have an active transportation survey being developed by Sean, Lianne and Amanda, workplace visits to be delivered to support the InMotion Challenge with Rebecca, Kayla, Bingxin, Michael, Thomas and Mike, school composting workshops organized with Graeme, Bayley and Sharon and finally a waste proposal underway from TREA member David toward the City’s long-term Residual Waste Disposal Strategy discussions underway. We hope you are the exception to the City’s message that more than a tonne of waste is produced per person yearly (this includes residence and workplace).

To launch Waste Week (Oct 16-22), TREA’s general meeting on Thursday, Oct 12, 7pm, 1017 Western Road, will dedicate the discussion to viewing short videos and discussing waste issues. Please join us!
