Many of us mark the seasons with different traditions and habits and as one of our favourite seasons approaches, we are remembering how lovely autumn can be. As we look towards the cooler months, we are making plans to spend more quality time at home. With shorter days, we tend to while away more hours indoors so now is a great opportunity for a good autumn house clean and maybe the opportunity to repaint or rearrange furniture. It’s a never-ending process but one that can be endlessly fun and rewarding.

ELECTROLUX LOVES FOOD
We made a visit to Taste of Sydney at Centennial Park, in partnership with Electrolux, to experience Electrolux Chefs’ Secrets. It was a great way for visitors to Taste to learn secret tips and techniques first hand from one of a group of Australia's leading chefs. The masterclass we sat in on featured chef Luke Mangan and we helped cook up a tempting dish of grilled sardines with a green tomato chutney and a radish salad. Luke’s tip: “Even the plumpest WA Sardines need no more than 30 seconds (skin down, in a griddle) on the induction cooktop. A high heat will seal in the flavours and they’ll continue to cook after they’ve been taken off the cooktop.”

THE SILENT CITY
Thanks to Husqvarna, our urban and green spaces will be more pleasant and quiet places to visit. The team braved a wet and wild Sydney morning recently to head to the launch of an innovative new colour trends concept by Haymes Paint – the Colour Library. Held in the C.U.B. Suite at the Old Clare Hotel in Chippendale, guests enjoyed a beautiful breakfast while hearing from Colour & Concept Manager Wendy Rennie talk about the change in how the company will release its colours and its new focus on building an evolving palette based on personal interest and style. With the inaugural launch including seven volumes – Curate, Collaborate, Timeless, Consider, Form, Conscious and Experience – the first volume Curate was unveiled in partnership with Etsy with some of its artisans and craftspeople creating pieces inspired by the new colours within the palette.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH – from Ocean Spray

CRANBERRY GLAZED STICKY LAMB BELLY

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 2 hr 50 min
Serves: 4
 
INGREDIENTS
500g lamb belly
Salt and pepper, to season
Olive oil, to season
Rosemary, to season
140g Ocean Spray® Jellied Cranberry Sauce
50ml olive oil
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp honey
1 ½ tsp mild English mustard
1 tsp fennel seeds, toasted
2 sprigs of rosemary
 
METHOD

  1. Preheat oven to 140°C.
  2. Generously season lamb belly with salt and pepper and rub with olive oil and rosemary.
  3. Place lamb on a baking tray and bake for 2.5 hours.
  4. To make glaze, mix Ocean Spray® Jellied Cranberry Sauce, olive oil, vinegar, honey, mustard, fennel seeds and rosemary together.
  5. Remove lamb from oven and pour mixed glaze over lamb.
  6. On a medium heat, chargrill lamb on a BBQ until cooked to preference. Continue to baste lamb with the glaze as it cooks.
  7. To serve, slice lamb roughly and garnish with more rosemary.
