Important update on your Area Festival result

Dear <<First Name>>,
You may have read on the BD website that we’ve issued some clarifications to the Area Festival structure, in particular the qualifying criteria for the Area Festival Finals, the second round of the series.  Whilst we had hoped to get this information out prior to the start of the Area Festivals at Wellington and Rockrose this weekend, due to circumstances beyond our control it wasn’t possible to get this communicated to members in advance.

If you haven’t had the opportunity, here’s the information for you to read.

We’ve had the results in from both venues – congratulations for finishing <<Placing>> at <<Venue>> in the <<Level>> with <<Horse>>.    However, the clarification around minimum percentages for progressing to the next round affects you, as you did not achieve the minimum score of <<Qual percentage>> required for the Area Festival Finals on this occasion.  We apologise for the confusion that this important omission may have inadvertently caused.

We appreciate that you will be disappointed to learn this after the competition, so as a gesture of goodwill we would like to offer you a complimentary entry to one further Petplan Equine Area Festival of your choice, at the same level and section, to give you the chance to achieve the percentage required.  You don’t have to obtain your qualifying sheets to compete at this Area Festival – on this occasion we’re offering you a second chance to get your qualifying score.

If you take up the opportunity of an alternative Area Festival, you won’t need to finish in the top ten or five to qualify, just score the minimum percentage required.   Your previous finishing position will be taken into account, providing you achieve this minimum score and meet the qualification criteria. The Area Festivals run into early September – and with the number of venues increased to 27 there’s still plenty of time for you to try and secure qualification for an Area Festival Final.

If you would like to take up the opportunity of a free Area Festival entry, please could you let Charlene Bryant or Monica Kilminster know in the office by email which competition you’d like to go to so we can ensure the organiser knows to accept your entry without payment.  You’ll need to enter in the normal way directly with the venue, so it’s important that you contact us in advance.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused, but as I am sure you appreciate it is usual practice for us to have minimum qualification percentage in place to progress in a Championship.  It's just unfortunate that it was omitted from the rules with the new Area Festival structure.  I do hope that this won’t take away from your Petplan Equine Area Festival experience and would encourage you to take up our offer of a further chance to secure the percentage you need to go to an Area Festival Final.

Kind regards,

Jason Brautigam
