Dundee Inspire Awards 2018
On Tuesday 20th November, the Caird Hall played host to the Dundee Inspire Awards 2018. This was in collaboration with Dundee City Council, Dundee Youth Fund, Dundee Youth Council and Discover Work Services, led by the volunteering youth team at Volunteer Dundee. As part of the Year of Young People celebrations, the Inspire Awards displayed the incredible young people that Dundee has to offer. Hosted by two young volunteers from Link Up Whitfield and Dundee Youth Council, it truly was a youth led event. One of the highlights was seeing the two hosts sashaying across the stage to Dancing Queen – definitely better dancers than others who have done the same!
Eight awards were given on the night, including Young Volunteer of the Year, Youth Volunteering Team of the Year and Youth Organisation of the Year. There were also special ‘Make A Difference’ awards handed out on the night, to reward young people who had made a real difference in five different categories: Sport, Employer, Young People, Community and Culture. In addition nine Saltire Summit Awards were given to young volunteers, plus twenty-seven Saltire 200/500 award certificates.
Overall, it was a spectacular night recognising the commitment and dedication of some of Dundee’s inspiring young people.

Dundee Independent Advocacy Support seeks Board Members

The Board are particularly keen to hear from candidates who want to give something back into society and are either working or have worked at a senior level.  It goes without saying that DIAS Directors must share a passion and enthusiasm for independent advocacy and can apply their knowledge and expertise to help further develop DIAS as an organisation.

We’d particularly welcome interest from anyone who can demonstrate the following skills: Legal expertise, marketing /media expertise, business/service development to ‘future-proof’ DIAS capabilities through developing new business models and/or partnership working or operational experience within a similar environment.
