The Shell Club, Geelong

Custom-designed water feature for the community

The Shell Club approached h2o designs to transform an old boarded up fireplace built into a large rock wall. One solution would have been to knock it down and replace it with something new, however we saw great potential in the existing material and its significance to the history of the venue.

The design process involved several site meetings with the client to gain a better understanding of the surrounding environment and any site restrictions, to create a water feature which would best suit this particular project and the client's expectations. Several ideas were explored before a final concept drawing was approved by the client and put into production.

"My instincts were to try and work with the rocks to enhance their natural look ... Robert came to the venue and immediately saw the potential of working with the raw materials already here."

Karen Wood, General Manager at Shell Club.
The water feature includes a mirror water wall lit from the trough below and subtly reflecting the surrounding environment. The laser cut panels create a picture frame view and help to eliminate the overall bulky appearance of the stone wall.

These screens not only add a decorative element to the feature, they also act as a safety barrier between the water wall and visitors.
Each water feature took one night to install with no interference to the function of the venue.
Before & AFter

"I have had tremendous feedback from everyone ... I have been more than happy with the quality of work and commitment ... it has rejuvenated an old area of the club that was previously very tired."

Karen Wood, General Manager at Shell Club.
