Survivor story: Bob Valvano

UofL Health is taking a giant step forward as we strive to inform, educate and provide patient-centered care to a broader population within Kentuckiana by being the local sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Red Couch Tour! A nationally recognized symbol, the Red Couch Tour will generate awareness of cardiovascular disease and inspire prevention in the next generation through experts and community engagement. Healthy for Good™ is a revolutionary healthy living movement to inspire you to create lasting change in your health and your life, one small step at a time. The approach is simple: Eat smart. Move more. Be well.

In partnership with the American Heart Association, UofL Health will engage the community as the Red Couch Tour makes several stops around our organization and Kentuckiana throughout the year. Prominent survivors of cardiovascular events and stroke will be interviewed as well as patient families and friends in hopes to inspire prevention of cardiovascular disease and death. At each stop, onlookers will be encouraged to have a seat on the Red Couch and share their personal stories about how heart disease has affected them or someone they love. Survivors are encouraged to share their stories on social media tagging @HeartLouisville and using #RedCouchTourLOU.
