Woodfield Weekly Blue Sheet
7th July 2018
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to all parents/carers who donated baked or bought cupcakes on Tuesday.
The day was a massive hit! Cupcakes enjoyed by students, staff, parents/carers and visitors. We managed to raise a grand total of over £200 for the Alzheimer's society!! Well done all who took part, a fantastic effort.
Grand Summer Fair
On the 2nd July, the school hall came alive as we held our summer fair. Students had made a range of products over the summer term in their Vocational Education sessions, which they got a chance to showcase. We had over 30 parents, friends and grandparents turn up to the fair, which was a fantastic response. Our pupils loved showing what they had made. It’s great to see parents turn up to encourage our learners and join in our school community activities.
A message to remind all parents and carers that the school is surrounded by grass and it is the season for high pollen, if you could administrator your child with hay fever relief if required please. Click here for NHS advice.
Warm Weather / Uniform
As the weather is getting warmer please make sure you label your child’s school jumpers. When it is hot, jumpers get left all over the school and without a name on the label it is impossible to find the owner. Pupils may also bring a water bottle to school and carry it to lessons. They can fill it up from the water fountains at break and lunchtime. Please do all you can to get your child organised. Please check that school uniform, pencil case and PE kit are all in place. Remember we do not allow logos- just plain black trousers, shoes, jumpers and a white polo shirt. Full details of uniform policy are available on our website.
Brent Carer Forum Information
At Woodfield School we strive for the success of each individual pupil and in order to achieve this we require support from parent/carers to ensure that their child attends school and is punctual. If your child is absent due to illness please try to notify the office by 9am. In the case of medical appointments please provide the office with an appointment letter/card wherever possible.
Polite reminder to all parents that the school car park is reserved for staff, transport busses and authorised visitors only. Due to the lack of space and the amount of transport buses entering and leaving the school, it causes a build-up of unnecessary traffic and is unsafe for our pupils, especially those travelling independently. There are two roads available besides the school on which parents can park and then walk the pupil into the school.
Makaton is a language programme that is used in conjunction with speech to aid the pupils’ understanding of language and help them communicate with each other more effectively. Makaton is used across the school in lessons and break times. We would love for you to learn some signs so that you can sign with your child. See the We Talk Makaton website for more.
