 Town Hall Meeting
Update

FEBRUARY 23, 2017

Thank you to all who came our to yesterday's Town Hall Meeting to discuss what the dreams shared by church members on their Dream Cards might mean for our congregation.  We had an insightful discussion as we considered all the various dreams.

In total we had 122 dreams shared on the Dream Cards.  If you haven't had a chance yet, please take time to review them.  They continue hang on the wall in our Hall Of Dreams located in the hallway between the Sanctuary Foyer and Harper Hall.

Looking at the cards we discovered that they fell into certain groupings.  Some groupings were specific to one given topic and other groupings were more general or miscellaneous to a given topic.  The various grouping were added up and ranked high, medium, and low.  The high category were dreams that had 8-14 dreams for each given topic, the medium category were dreams that had 5-7 dreams for each given topic, and the low category were dreams that had 3-4 dreams for each given topic.

They fell within the following groups -
  • HIGH CATEGORY -
    • Contemporary Worship - 14
    • Music Ministry - 10
    • Renovate Harper Hall - 8
  • MEDIUM CATEGORY -
    • Youth Ministry - 7
    • Service/Missions - 7
    • Children's Ministry - 6
    • Family Life Center - 5
    • Full Time Youth Director - 5
    • Fellowship - 5
  • LOW CATEGORY -
    • Growth in General - 4
    • Small Groups - 4
    • Full Time Children's Director - 4
    • Enlarge Foyer - 3
    • Playground - 3
    • Tear Down Bardwell House - 3
    • Outreach/Evangelism - 3
    • Start Bell Choir - 3

There were, of course, many dreams that fell below the low category threshold.  Most of those only showed up one time and a few a couple of times.

After looking at these ranges of interest in the dreams we went a step further to talk about which of these were dreams were specific or general to a given topic.  For example, we have 10 different dreams that talked about our Music Ministry, but they were, for the most part, all different dreams related to the Music Ministry of the church.  What we found interesting was that there were certain dream grouping where every single dream in that grouping said the same thing over and over.  For example, we have 14 specific dreams about contemporary worship - all 14 basically said we want a contemporary worship service.

Looking at where we have these multiple dreams on the same specific topics reveals to us places where we had the largest interest from our church family.  They broke down as follows:

HIGH CATEGORY -
  • Contemporary Worship - 14
  • Renovate Harper Hall - 8

MEDIUM CATEGORY -
  • Full Time Youth Director - 5

LOW CATEGORY -
  • Full Time Children's Director - 4
  • Enlarge Foyer - 3
  • Playground - 3
  • Tear Down Bardwell House - 3
  • Start Bell Choir - 3

This is all very interesting as you consider the areas of concentrated interest for our church family.

If you were unable to attend our Town Hall Meeting and wish to share your input on what these dreams might mean for our church, please do not hesitate to send me an email which I will pass along to the Dream Team which will be meeting on Wednesday, March 8 at 7:30 pm after the Covered Dish dinner.  The team members include:
  1. John Faulkinberry - Chairperson

  2. Jonathan Leung

  3. Melissa Kravetz

  4. Bruce Woodard

  5. John Jones

  6. Frances Cox

  7. Coral Hand

I hope this has been helpful to you if you were unable to be at last night's meeting.  As always, please continue to be in prayer for the VCI process.  Your Church Leadership, including the leadership of the VCI teams are prayerfully seeking God and His direction in all that we do.  You're prayers are appreciated.

Grace and Peace,
DAVID BRASHER
