Le Tour de Frames 2013
THANK YOU to the following frame shops: Horse Cycles, Coast Cycles, Benjamin Cycles and Square Built for being a part of our super successful, second annual Frame Builder Tour on August 17th!

We started the afternoon at the Williamsburg Bridg and headed over to Horse Cycles where we met Thomas Callahan. He showed us his "Urban Tour" line and the spray booth in the back where he can paint ANYTHING (or so it seemed)!

After that we made our way to Square Built where Lance Mercado had some scraps set up for us to try tig welding.  All WE can say is, this frame building thing is an ART!

After tig welding at Square Built it was on to Benjamin Cycles where we had a cold beverage and learned about how bicycle mechanics see frames differently and how Ben Peck is trying to make bicycles that are not only art, but technically perfect from a mechanic's viewpoint.

And finally WE made our way to Coast Cycles where Johnny Coast walked us through the entire process of building- from the raw steel, to mitering (cutting the tubes at an angle) to fitting them together in the jig and joining them with lugs or welds.

WE ended the day hanging out and BBQing with the cycling community and were happy to be joined by several other bike clubs including Social Cycling New York City!

First Annual Annie Londonderry Ride
What a HUGE success and SO MUCH FUN!

WE also hosted our LARGEST EVENT EVER this past month, the Annie Londonderry Ride, which brought together 80 women and female-identifying cyclists in a bike parade up Park Avenue during the Summer Streets Festival. Thanks to everyone who came out and rode with us in support of women on bicycles, and to Bicycle Habitat for hosting and coordinating the event with us! WE hope to see all of you at more events in the future!

To all participants who filled out a feedback form after the ride, thank you as well! The winner of the feedback form raffle is Shannon Smith, who won a reflective pin by Vespertine! Shannon, please contact liz@webikenyc.com to claim your prize! If you didn't win, you can still get 15% off until September 25th by using the coupon code WEBIKE!
