Spring is almost here! Celebrate with WE Bike NYC!
*¿Prefieres leer en Espanol? Marque aqui!*

The weather is warming, time to get back in the saddle!

It's been a long and brutal winter, but we are psyched that spring is finally here and we can dust off (or de-salt?) our wheels! If you're feeling a bit wobbly after not riding all winter, here are some easy ways to get comfortable riding again after a snowy hiatus.

1. GET A TUNE-UP! Whether you've been riding in the worst of weather or not at all, chances are your bike could use some lovin'. Salt from once-snowy roads can cause corrosion and rust, and you might need some parts replaced or at least thoroughly cleaned. Even a bike that's been stored indoors for months will need oil and minor adjustments in order to function smoothly.

2. DO SOME LAPS AROUND THE PARK! Riding in a confined space with no traffic is a great way to ease back into riding. You get to set your own pace, and you won't end up somewhere far away with no way to get back!

3. DRESS IN LAYERS. The weather report might say 50 degrees, but patches of shade and gusts of wind can still be chilly! Be sure to pack a spare pair of gloves and a thin extra layer just in case!

4. DON'T OVERDO IT. Just because you completed that century last summer, or that really long ride to the beach, doesn't mean that you can just pick up where you left off if you haven't been riding for a while. Ease back into it slowly before you attempt new feats of athleticism!

5. ENJOY THAT FRESH SPRING AIR! Don't forget to have fun on your ride! It's not about passing that person in front of you, or bemoaning the state of your post-winter leg muscles. Take it easy and just enjoy being outside!

HALF THE ROAD Screenings in NYC
Friday April 18- Thursday April 24
7pm- 9pm, Cinema Village, 22 East 12th Street, Manhattan
More info HERE!
Modern society has long believed that women hold up half the sky in terms of equality and progression. So when it comes to the sport of professional cycling, why aren't women receiving half the road?
Directed by pro cyclist Kathryn Bertine, HALF THE ROAD explores the world of women's professional cycling, focusing on both the love of sport and the pressing issues of inequality that modern-day female athletes face in male dominated sports.

WE've been hearing buzz about this movie for months, and WE're so excited that they're able to screen it right here in New York City! Be sure to check it out-- you know WE will!
