WE Party 2! Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger!

Many of you found out about WEBike NYC through our FUNTASTIC fundraising party last October! Well, it's been a year, and WE are SO excited to be hosting our SECOND ANNUAL WE PARTY ON NOVEMBER 6TH, to celebrate riders and supporters of ALL GENDER-IDENTITIES, after a whole year of awesome events!

Last year's party featured drinks and dancing, bike valet parking, performers including bike dancers, rockin' bands and DJ's, awesome raffle prizes and give-aways, and some great company (all of you!). Here are some pictures of the fun that was had by all!

This year, WE can't wait to celebrate how much our group has grown, thank our generous sponsors and WE Backers of all genders, and recruit more awesome women and female-identifying folk to ride with us as we change the face of cycling in NYC! Sunday, October 6
Greenmarket Bike Blender Demo
9am-1pm, Carroll Park, Brooklyn
Come join us at the Carroll Gardens Green Market to see a fix-a-flat demo, try out a human-powered bike blender (and taste the results) and see what we are up to in the coming months!

Tuesday, October 10 
Sustainable Cycles 
7-9pm, REI Soho Community Room, 303 Lafayette St, Manhattan

In May 2013 Sustainable Cycles sent one woman and one man on a cross country bike ride to educate the public about re-usable menstrual products. In this true grass-roots journey, they educated women about the benefits of sustainable menstrual products including cost efficiency, waste reduction, and health benefits.  Come hear about their ride, the advantages of sustainable products, and hopefully score a free prize!

Saturday, October 12
Fix-a-flat Workshop
1-3pm, Meet under the arch in Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn. If it is raining we will meet under the arch and then go to 718 Cyclery for the workshop.

This is your chance to learn how to fix a flat tire on YOUR OWN BIKE! This hands-on workshop is aimed at giving you the confidence to fix a flat tire on your bicycle. WE'll cover everything from how to release your brakes to what tools to use. Bring your own bike, or use a loaner wheel. WE Bike NYC will supply loaner tools, or purchase your own fix a flat kit for $7. All skill levels welcome.

Wet your Wheels Happy Hour
6pm-8pm, 224 West 79th Street (79th and Broadway) Irving Farm Coffee Roasters, Manhattan.
This is your chance to introduce yourself -- and all your friends -- to WE Bike NYC. This is an opportunity to unite as a community and talk bikes. ALL GENDERS are welcome at this event, so bring your friends! Raffle prizes and good times guaranteed.

Brooklyn Bike Brunch
11am, Meet at Bay Ridge (R) Station4th Ave and Bay Ridge Ave, Brooklyn.

Please join us as we discover the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bayridge! WE will meet at 11am at the Bay Ridge (R) Subway Station located near the corner of 4th Ave and Bay Ridge Ave. As a group we will ride to the American Veteran's Memorial Pier. After we take in the gorgeous view, we'll go for a ride down the Belt Parkway Bike Path to Bay Ridge Bicycle World located at  8916 3rd Ave . From the Bike shop we will head for Brunch at Hom Cafe located very nearby at 8806 3rd Avenue . This will be a leisurely paced ride, however we do recommend that you be comfortable riding in traffic. 

Thursday, October 26
Fall in Prospect Park Ride

11am-130pm, Meet at 9th Street and Prospect Park West entrance to Prospect Park, Brooklyn.

Join us for a light-hearted Fall frolic in the park, kids and cyclists of all levels welcome, costumes encouraged! WE will meet at 11AM, at 9th Street and Prospect Park West, ride a loop-and-a-half around the park at a slow, comfortable pace, and then end at the Grand Army Plaza Farmer's Market, where WE will indulge in some seasonal cider, donuts, caramel apples, and other goodies of a fall nature.  WE Bike NYC will provide donuts and cider! If you'd like to show off your costume some more, WE will head over the Ghouls and Gourds festival in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens around 1pm after our picnic. Admission to the Botanical Garden event is $10, but the ride is free!

Community Events!

This month WE couldn't be more excited to promote our buddy organization, InTandem!

InTandem is a non-profit organization that provides access to tandem bicycle rides to visually impaired or otherwise disabled athletes.

Come learn more about InTandem. Meet the people involved, and discover how you can take part in this incredible experience.
