November News from WE Bike NYC

👉 WE're looking for a Newsletter Coordinator 👈
Do you like keeping tabs on what's happening with #bikenyc AND are you interested in becoming more active with WE Bike? If so, then becoming our new Newsletter Coordinator may be just the volunteer job you've been looking for. You'll be in charge of getting this very newsletter out at the beginning of each month, which takes about 1-2 hours. Email if you're interested in learning more about what this job entails.

It's a quiet month as WE coast into the end of 2020. Stay connected with WE Bike NYC by adding to conversations on the Female Bike Forum on Facebook, like these:

Meet a WE Biker: Emily Provonsha

Every volunteer brings something special to our organization. And WE count on them—whether they’re leading our rides or writing our newsletters or responding to mail or building our website. This month's volunteer is Emily Provonsha. Get to know her here!

What was your first WE Bike NYC ride?
The group ride from Madison Square Park to Red Hook for Pupusas and Steve’s Key Lime Pie!

What's your favorite route?
The ride to/from my apartment through Astoria Park, down Vernon Boulevard to Brickhouse Ceramic Art Center in LIC.
What do you ride?
I ride a beautiful green Fuji 7-speed, named Fern, that was passed on to me by a friend recently after my folding bike was stolen.
Why do you love WE Bike NYC?
I love WE Bike NYC because of the many awesome people in the community. It’s an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring group. Leading rides, organizing monthly happy hours or participating in WE Bike events is fun and rewarding.

WE Can't Do It Without You!

WE Bike NYC is an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. WE are entirely volunteer-run, but it takes money for us to maintain our current standards of operation.
If you are looking for a way to support fun, free, noncompetitive bicycle events and programming specifically for women, please consider donating to WE Bike NYC!

Community Events

Brooklyn Cranksgiving
Sunday, November 8

More Info

This year's ride will look a bit different in order to be more COVID-friendly and to maximize the impact of the donations our community partners receive. Instead of visiting supermarkets to buy food to donate to charity, participants will cycle/walk around Brooklyn, stopping at various checkpoints where they'll complete a fun task or trivia question and be able to donate directly to charities. Each checkpoint offers an opportunity to accumulate points. Prizes will be given away for most points, best costume, most creative Instagram post, first family to finish, most generous donor/rider, etc. Everyone has a chance to win.

Bronx Cranksgiving
Saturday, November 14

More Info

As of press time, the 2020 Bronx Cranksgiving is a go! The annual Cranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels, organized by Bronx residents, benefitting Bronx residents in need.
Details and flyer coming soon.
