What was your first WE Bike NYC ride?
My first ride with WE Bike NYC was the Five Boro Bike Tour in 2014. I’d never done the Five Boro and saw they were putting together a group and figured it’d be more fun to do with other people.
What’s your favorite route?
I get bored easily and the destinations are always changing, so I’ll just tell you about the ride I have planned for later today.
Kosciusko Bridge Bike Path (favorite skyline views in the city) to Queens, over to Randall’s Island to take the connector (more beautiful views and no cars!) into the Bronx and then over the Madison Avenue Bridge to get to Harlem where I have an appointment for a covid test and flu shot for work. Then I figured I’d ride through Central Park and the city to Chinatown for noodles before heading home over the Brooklyn Bridge. I usually avoid the Brooklyn Bridge, but it’ll be sunset and sometimes it’s worth the traffic.
What do you ride?
Mostly I ride a D’Accordi step-thru that I converted to a single-speed. If I know there will be hills or long miles involved, I ride my geared bike which is a custom frame I made when I first started working for a local frame builder.
Why do you love WE Bike NYC?
WE Bike NYC has introduced me to some of my favorite people and riding buddies. I also love that WE create space for bike joy as well as space to vent, problem-solve, and create change.
