2018 Bicycle Goals!

Happy New Year! WE hope that you rang in 2018 safely, warmly, and with lots of merriment. January is always a good time to reflect on the previous year and to set goals and intentions for the upcoming one. WE are reminiscing about all the fun rides and events we did in 2017, and WE are busily planning 2018! If you haven't had a chance yet, please complete our VERY short survey to help guide our planning.

Speaking of which, the topic of 2018 bike goals recently came up on the WE Bike NYC Female Bike Forum. It was/is a very inspiring conversation! Check out these popular goals, in no particular order:
  • More miles
  • More speed
  • Meeting more people (WE want to meet all of you at a ride this year!)
  • New York Cycle Club's SIG training program
  • More bike packing / bike camping adventures
  • Longer rides, like RAGBRAI and/or traveling across several states
  • Acquiring new bikes and gear
  • Building mechanic skills
Looking for people to ride with to help make your goals happen? WE invite you to join the conversation here and WE look forward to riding with you this year!
WE Can't Do It Without You!

Community Events

Here are some of our favorite bike events in the #bikenyc community this January!

The Challenges of Owning a Bicycle Shop
Tuesday, January 9
6pm, Connolly's, 121 45th St, Manhattan

More Info

For the New York Cycle Club's monthly meeting, Tenafly Bicycle Workshp (TBW) will share how they have managed to grow their business despite the recent closing of bike shops in the tri-state area. Shepard Grinker, owner, will be discussing how they not only have brought the bike shop back from the dead, but have managed to make the shop a destination location for their customers. Shepard will also be discussing how TBW has created a community around the shop, and how they have focused on community and youth programs. Above all else, he sees cycling advocacy as their primary focus.
