WE Boogie Up the Bronx River!
WE Bike NYC - Boogie Down Rides - Bronx River Alliance Greenway Team present: WE Boogie Up the Bronx River!
In this
co-ed, all- gender ride, we'll all be riding from the mouth to source of the Bronx River. The (roundtrip) 46-mile ride will get started at Soundview Park and peak at the Kensico Dam. We aim to ride at a fairly brisk pace of 12mph. There will be plenty of riding on city streets and roughly about two-thirds is on parkway or greenway including the Bronx River Greenway and the car-free parkway in Westchester County. This ride is recommended for adult riders with experience comfortably riding on streets with shared car traffic. Helmets required.
Ride departs promptly at 9:30am from Soundview Park Field House (on Lafayette Avenue near Colgate Avenue). Gather at 9am at the Soundview Park Field House. Alternately, meet at the Elder Avenue #6 train station at 9am and be lead to the Field House, a mile away. Being dehydrated is wack, so bring plenty of it along with snacks for the ride. Ride will break for approximately 45 minutes at the Kensico Dam Plaza - bring lunch or purchase lunch there. There will also be a couple of bathroom breaks to and from the Kensico Dam. We ride with a sweep, so no one will be left behind. We will also be "checking in" so if you feel like heading back home early no worries, we will intentionally stop at the subway at the 2 train Wakefield Station (8-miles in) and the Valhalla Metro North Station (23-miles in) near the Dam.
YOU MUST RSVP for this ride. Space is limited.Register
here.
