UNCTAD Secretary-General on the importance of partnering with civil society
Secretary-General Mr. Mukhisa Kituyi identified civil society as a key partner as he opened the Trade and Development Board on Monday.
"Their hands-on experience of development on the ground, their effective policy advocacy, and their ability to galvanize action, make them natural partners of UNCTAD." Read the statement in full
International Trade Union Confederation Calls for Wage-led Growth at Opening Session
Esther Busser, Assistant Director in the ITUC's Geneva office, took the opportunity to welcome Mr Mukhisa Kituyi and highlight issues she sees as critical over the next four years: productive investment, wage-led growth and social protection floors. She praised analysis in the 2013 Trade and Development Report on these topics. The ITUC has Observer Status at UNCTAD.
