Amazing fundraising
Omanu Primary School in Mount Maunganui took their Purple Cake Day event to another level this year. Organised by the middle school students and families, they topped the list of New Zealand schools with their fundraising, and well deserved too – photos on their page tell the tale. Thanks so much to the students and the school community. You can be sure your $4,133.10 raised will go a long way to helping other kids in Haiti, and Nepal receive good quality education, who may otherwise have no access to that opportunity. Amazing. Thank you.
Another huge shoutout to the ever wonderful Woodland Pre-Schools group in Hong Kong. And to all the individuals, kids, parents, students, teachers, principals, schools and groups who support Purple Cake Day events. Let us know if you have an event coming up. Kids helping kids.
Updates from our projects
First Steps Himalaya - Nepal
Face-painting & hat-making brought smiles at Purple Cake Day celebrations held by First Steps Himalaya staff in Nepal. There was even a willing group of yoga students from Scotland on hand to help out!

CLASSROOM RENOVATIONS – As part of a Nepal Yoga Journey with Beyond the Clouds, this yoga team from Aberdeen also spent 4 days in Sangachok painting the newly built classrooms and getting them ready for the children. Mulkharka School has also been painted and is making great progress.

TEACHER TRAINING – First Steps are now working with the Smart Minds team to plan an ongoing teacher training programme to support their teachers long term. A hugely important initiative as they aim to change one classroom at a time, creating better learning environments for these young people.
Children of Haiti Project
All around the world, we pose for photos the same :)
End of year 7!! The Children of Haiti Project continues to be a healthy oasis for its students. Year 8 plans are underway.

EYE SIGHT: Following a comprehensive eye-sight testing in the school, most students were found to have 20/20 normal vision or better. "We feel the provision of high potency daily vitamins to each student contributes to this high rate of superior vision," says school directrice Dominique Pierre. More news coming in our newsletter next month.

Thank you
It has been a whirlwind of a year, with many schools and individuals doing Purple events. We appreciate all your hard work and the support you give our young people, growing a generous and caring young generation. Thank you.
