Dear friend of Purple Cake Day
Welcome to the new year! Hope it's going well for you.
We're very excited because this is our fifth year of Purple Cake Day
. Can you believe it? Five years of 'kids helping kids',
learning about children in other countries, and encouraging anyone and everyone we meet to be involved in zany, fun-filled purple events!
Thousands of school children have participated, learned, celebrated and made connections with the kids they support in Kenya, Haiti and Nepal – learning about generosity, compassion, respect and an awareness of others.
As our patron Dame Suzie Moncrieff puts it: “Instilling these values in our children is priceless.”
is our '2015 Global Day of Action'
, and we can’t wait to see what purple adventures you get up to. Remember, this is the day that kicks off the purple year, but you can 'go purple'
any day that suits you or your school throughout the year.
Talk to your friends, talk to your teachers,
get your purple thinking caps on, and start planning now – Purple Cake Day is on its way!

"Education is a Human Right"
Yes, this year's theme was chosen by Chris Mburu, the founder of the Hilde Back Education Fund. You may have seen this printed on purple shirts in Kenya!
“We believe it is every child’s right to have access to education," says Chris. "A right that is being violated everyday in some countries."
We are wanting you to find out what that means in everyday life - more about that soon!
It really is changing lives
Education is about opportunities – for students to learn the skills and confidence and inspiration to help themselves. We will be continuing to support our partner projects in Haiti, Nepal and Kenya in 2015. And we will be keeping you up to date with them. Thank you.
Bella's Christmas gift arrives in Haiti
Remember at the end of last year, 10-year old Bella from Nelson decided to give up her Christmas presents for kids in Haiti? Well, you obviously thought this was an awesome idea too because a lot of people chipped in and she raised three times her goal. Read about her gift arriving in Haiti here >>
We are looking forward to March 20th when Purple Cake Day kicks off it's FIFTH year! Talk to your friends, talk to your teachers. Start planning now :)
