Dream Big Grow Here 2016
By Patrick Luensmann

We had a tough time choosing finalists after 130 outstanding contestants sent in their video submission for our 2016 Dream Big Grow Here Competition. This competition was established to help dreamers grow their business and to celebrate small business in Iowa. Out of those 130 contestants, only 30 contenders were chosen to present at our pitch-off event. These contestants put in long hours to perfect their pitch on their business.

IDEAS FOR SUCCESS
Iowa Jumps in Female-Owned Business Rankings
By Amy Kuhlers via IEDA

A report from American Express Open released Friday indicates that Iowa now ranks 30th in growth of number of women-owned firms in the country and fourth in overall "economic clout" over the past nine years. This is the same report that for the past three years has ranked Iowa dead-last among the states for increases in women-owned firms and revenue. So, why the jump? Despite a headline proclaiming Iowa jumped from 51st place to fourth place among U.S. states in terms of performance of women-owned businesses, that conclusion is like comparing apples to oranges, said Julie Weeks, American Express Open research adviser and author of 2016 State of Women Owned Businesses Report.

Iowa Women Entrepreneurs Wanted
By Amy Kuhlers via IEDA
Are you a female entrepreneur seeking to scale your business?  Would you be interested in competing for awards totaling $40,000 and gaining pitch experience and valuable investor feedback?  If you answered yes to either of these questions, you could join a select group of Iowa women entrepreneurs who will take the stage to wow investors and promote their businesses at an upcoming Invest in She event!
