Oktoberfest Starts September 29

Due South's annual beer celebration and festival comes back this year starting September 29 and going through October 1. It's a three day party full of good beer, good food, and good friends.

We will be releasing some sought-after favorites, like our What the Hef? hefeweizen, to share along with the current seasonal lineup of Isle of MaGourdo pumpkin ale and Oktoberfest marzen lager. In addition, expect to see beer treatments and the release of a doppelbock.

The festivities wouldn't be complete without a collection of food trucks: Beginning on Thursday the 29th, you'll be able to purchase a half-liter Due South stein with a pour of Oktoberfest for only $10! Keep the glass and bring it back during the event for half-liter fills of the tasty lager for regular price. Thursday also marks the release of a run of Honey Vanilla Wheat cans that will be available to-go as well as on draft. Keep posted to our Facebook event as we add lists of beer treatments and other fun facts.

We're thrilled to be celebrating with you all again, so put on your dirndl or your Lederhosen and come on out for a weekend of fun.

Featured Beer

Isle of MaGourdo

September brings with it the transition from summer to fall... and the flavors to match it. That's why our Isle of MaGourdo is such a hit: it's an ale brewed with pumpkin and spices to create a welcoming beer that's full of everything we love about autumn.

At 5.5% alcohol by volume, it's a beer that can stand up to a hearty meal but won't be afraid to complement dessert.

The beer is now available on draft and in packaged cans in both our tap room and our numerous retail partners. Bring some home and enjoy the flavors of the season!

What a age we live in! Gone are the days where popcorn is the only acceptable accessory to your movie going experience. Now, craft beer isn't difficult to find when heading out to enjoy the latest blockbuster.

Cinemark in the Boynton Beach Mall features it's "Premier Bar", which happily serves Category 3 IPA on draft and several other options in cans. A Friday night at the theater with a Cat 3 by your side like a great time to us!

Mike J

Mike has been with us since day one. He's our intrepid Brewery Operations Manager ensuring that everything is on schedule for production and that distributors are getting filled up with Due South goodness. In his spare time he enjoys watching pro wrestling, recording podcasts, supporting his fellow South Florida breweries, Spritzing, and long walks in the heat from his house to his car.

What is your "go-to" Due South beer and why?
If only life were that easy. Picking a go-to beer is a tough one. This summer has made Craft American Lager and Weekender Weisse my typical selection, but sometimes a tough week needs to be capped off with a Category 5.

What is your favorite customer reaction to a Due South beer?
I haven't seen anyone do a literal back flip yet (someone change this for me please) so I would have to go with a quote from a customer: "I used to be a Bud Light drinker. Now I'll never touch that s#!t again."

How has your view of craft beer changed after working at Due South for four years?
You really see everything that goes into putting that glass, can, or bottle in front of someone. I think a lot of beer drinkers don't realize all the moving parts associated with this thing that we love so much. Issues can (and will) arise throughout every step of the way, whether that be in the brewery, at the distributor, at the retail spot, etc. So when everything comes together so perfectly and you hear a person out and about say that they love your beer, it's that much more gratifying.

Recent Beer Releases

Here are some new beers now available in the taproom and in the market
  • Oktoberfest - Brewed as a traditional German Marzen, this beer is created each year to celebrate Oktoberfest! So grab a dimpled mug, grill up some bratwurst and enjoy our take on this historic European style.
  • Simcoe Dry Hopped Pale - Part of our Dry Hopped series, we take our 5.1% ABV pale ale and copiously dry hop it with Simcoe, a hop variety known for passion fruit, pine, berry and earth characteristics.
  • Isle of MaGourdo - Isle of MaGourdo is a pumpkin ale brewed specially for the fall season. Years ago our Brewmaster Mike went tuna fishing in Islamorada with Bo, Bryan and a great man named Martin. This beer is brewed each year the same time as that trip. For Martin – we miss you buddy.

Upcoming Beers

You can expect the following beers in the coming months.
  • Doppelbock - A recent entry into the Due South portfolio, this sweet dark lager is poised to be released around our Oktoberfest celebrations.
  • Honey Vanilla Wheat - Smooth and silky are the best ways to describe this seasonal beer. A special mash process is used to create a fuller body with a smooth mouthfeel. Real vanilla beans are added at the end of fermentation to balance out the sweetness of the honey. We only use the freshest Florida honey in this beer brewed to enjoy in the Florida sunshine.
  • What the Hef? - This is a German style wheat beer called a Hefeweizen that is completely unfiltered leaving a hazy straw color. Flavor and aroma notes of banana, bubble gum and clove round out this Bavarian favorite. It will be coming out Thursday September 29 in cans and on draft to help kick off our Oktoberfest.
  • Cafe Ole Espresso Porter - Roasted barley and flaked oats combine to form a rich, robust flavor, complimented by the addition of locally roasted espresso (from Argyle Coffee Roasters) and a touch of vanilla.
Have you had our Craft American Lager lately? This bright beer is cold conditioned for weeks and the result is a clean, crisp taste designed to stand up to the heat of the Sunshine State. See what else is on tap in the taproom.
