To Comfort always, to Relieve often, to Save sometimes
Dear Friends and supporters,

Here’s wishing all our Chinese friends and supporters a very Happy Chinese New Year. We celebrated in the traditional fashion by giving all our staff gifts of rice, oil and dried fish as well as having our annual firework show.

Hope’s Heroes this month highlights a precious, godly lady, Sylvia Huxtable. She is a retired nurse from England who has been coming to China on a regular basis to take our children for surgery in Hong Kong. She cares for them day and night and has spared no expense in pouring out her love tirelessly for these sweet babies.

It was seven years ago, while working as a volunteer at New Hope Foundation that I was asked to take nine month old baby Joey to Hong Kong. Joey had already had surgery for bladder exstrophy at the age of four months. Unfortunately he developed a very aggressive brain tumor and died nine months later. He was the first of my beautiful babies, whom I grew to love dearly.
Next I was privileged to take fifteen month old baby Grace to Hong Kong for surgery.  Grace needed complex surgery and a lot of reconstruction. I had a few days to get to know this adorable baby, who had been at 'Hope’ since she was eight days old.……

Many hospital admissions had to be on hold earlier this month due to the Spring Festival holidays but we still managed to get help for some urgent cases. From left to right Emmee was admitted to hospital in Suzhou for her neurological defect and Desmond was admitted to a local hospital with pneumonia. Desmond is home now and doing well.

Our Needs

Thank you to those who supported our children for the cost of their surgeries. Your gifts save lives. Almost all our children are sick and need medical care or surgery. Please continue to meet this on-going need whenever you are able.
Prayer Request for the month:

Please pray for a family for James. He is vocalizing the pain he feels of not being chosen by a family while he watches his friends go to loving homes. He is an intelligent 2 year old little boy who has joint problems but despite this he is incredibly resourceful and mobile.
Our Most Sincere Thanks;

1) To Dr. Jason and Lauren A. for their very generous gift in response to our need mentioned last month. Their gift will complete the funds raised for an important surgery for baby Maya in Hong Kong. They are helping a child who will receive surgery from the same MedArt team who assisted in the surgical care of their new son.

2) To Tim M for an extremely generous donation that will change many children’s lives.

3) To Jenny W who came all the way from the US to care for baby John in Hong Kong during his surgery.

4) To Lucy F for her Chinese New Year gift towards the children’s care.

5) To Denis, Angela S. and their children who specifically asked for donations to NHF in lieu of their birthday gifts.

6) To Jaime H’s father who donated funds for Yasmine’s surgery

7) To all the new children’s sponsors.

8) To Vena C and Dennis W for their donation as a result of Dennis running in a recent marathon
With our deepest gratitude,
Joyce and Robin Hill
