"OrKidstra has helped me both as a musician and as a person giving me life skills which I use on a daily basis such as time management, dedication and perseverance." –Rinila, 16
"I was born in Mumbai, India and I moved to Canada when I was 7. I first started going to OrKidstra in 2008 when they performed a concert at my elementary school. I remember being inspired by the sound filling our gym and I knew that I wanted to be a part of it. OrKidstra has helped me both as a musician and as a person giving me life skills which I use on a daily basis such as time management, dedication and perseverance.
I'm so grateful to all our donors: OrKidstra touches so many lives and with each donation you help make this amazing program grow and expand. Thank you for supporting OrKidstra!" Read more of Rinila's story here.
Watch "OrKidstra: The Power of Music" online!
CBC TV has spent the past year making a 45-minute documentary to capture OrKidstra’s inspiring story – how the power of music truly empowers kids and builds community.
After many months of planning, OrKidstra held its first classes for 50 very excited students in Rideau High School, in the under-served area of Vanier, on October 3rd, 2016. It was a great first day that included an impromptu performance for the kids and parents by OrKidstra teachers!
With your continued support, OrKidstra will continue bring the transformational power of music to under-served children and youth in our community and help them to reach their potential!Find out more about our programs here.

"OrKidstra has really given my life meaning. Your donations are helping to improve the quality of life for underserved kids in our community AND you are sharing the precious gift of music with them. That’s an amazing gift.” –Declan
Declan started playing the French horn at OrKidstra at age 11 in 2008 and began playing the cello three years later. Declan is now an OrKidstra graduate, OrKidstra Teaching Artist and is studying at the University of Ottawa in the Bachelor of Music program specializing in Education.
OrKidstra students play their part in "Close Encounters"
On November 7, OrKidstra students Derek, Emily and Peter participated in a very special concert - “Close Encounters” - in Southam Hall at the National Arts Centre as part of the Ottawa Youth Orchestra (OYO) playing side-by-side with the National Arts Centre Orchestra (NACO). OrKidstra student Peter Perez wowed the audience with sensitive and beautiful interpretation of "Gabriel's Oboe" from The Mission by Morricone. Photo by OrKidstra supporter Robert S.
