Burning Issues: The Future of Fossil Fuels in Heritage

Online Event

Thursday 22nd April 2021 followed by STICK AGM

As we navigate the climate emergency organisations seek to minimise emissions and reduce resource consumption - but where does that leave heritage organisations that run historic engines on fossil fuels? How can we justify or offset these emissions and what does the future look like for our historic engines with increasingly sustainability-focused funders? What is the role of industrial museums and collections in STEM and environmental education and how might learning outcomes balance emissions?

STICK’s online Spring event and 2021 AGM falls on 22nd April, also International Earth Day. Focusing on the themes of the future of heritage engines and green initiatives, we will hear experiences covering justifying, offsetting or sustainably running engines, of navigating new climate regulations at local and national levels, funding partnerships, and the futures they foresee for the running engines in their care.

Online booking arrangements for the event will be circulated nearer the time.
