Hello fellow gardening enthusiasts and members of the St. James Horticultural Society. We hope you are all doing well and staying safe.

We are still not able to hold our regular meetings however it appears things will be returning back to normal just around the corner. It certainly will be nice to return to regular meetings.
A NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Well, I hate to keep harping on this but I am getting tired of reminding gardeners. Please remember when not on your garden plot you must be wearing a mask, especially at the water taps.

Black pearl coffee has generously offered to donate some coffee burlap sacks and coffee chaff. These items will just show up on the Albany side of the gardens near the picnic table in the shade. Please share with your St James garden neighbours.

There are a lot of new to us gardeners. Please offer them a kind word and welcome them to our gardens.

Beausejour day lily display gardens donated some Stella d’Oro daylilies for our entry garden box. Thank you to them for this generous donation.

I have tentatively booked our Glenlea fundraiser for pick up the first weekend in June next year.

COMMUNITY
by Karla
St. James Horticultural Society Board Member and Gardener in Training

As a gardener at the St. James Horticultural Society garden plots you’re part of community of likeminded people looking to have some space to put our horticultural stamp on.

Each of us have our own reasons for being there. For some it’s about having fresh organic veggies to feed our families throughout the year. For others it’s about the camaraderie that we have with our fellow gardeners and the mental health benefits associated with that and connecting with the earth.

Whatever your reasons for being there, take some time to look out over this diverse community that you have helped built. Gardening practices from the world over are taking place right here in our little horticultural haven. Every day presents us with the opportunity to learn from our neighbours and expand our knowledge.

So say hello to the new faces around the garden and learn some new tips or tricks from each other.  You were once welcomed with smiles and friendship, lets all do our part to make sure that this practice continues.
